'Twas early in the morning, east skies growing a creamy pink with dawn's first rays. Fallenpaw cracked an eye, waiting a heartbeat for her eye to adjust to the gloom. Her other eye opened, and yet again she had to wait for her eye to adjust. The mute medicine cat sat up in her nest, parched mouth opening wide in a yawn. Fallenpaw's eyes rested on a pile of fresh herbs that lay at the mouth of Pineleaf's den. Quietly, she stood up, stalking gingerly over to the herbs to sort them. Fallenpaw sat down, immediately spotting marigold. Silently, the mute medicine cat sorted through the herbs.

Pineleaf listened to her apprentice sorting out the herbs. She stepped towards Fallenpaw and looked over her shoulder. Spotting dock leaves, she asked her apprentice, "Can you get some dock leaves ready for Pouncepaw and Darkstar when they come back from training? They might have sore pads,"

Fallenpaw could feel her mentors burning gaze hot on her pelt. It didn't bother her. The apprentice kept sorting. Fallenpaw's ears perked as Pineleaf began to speak. She nodded in reply, placing the dock a tails lienth away. (Lazy)

Pineleaf sighed out of annoyance and turned towards the dock leaves. "Fallenpaw?" Pineleaf asked, "Point towards to the herb that helps rat bites." Hopefully, Pineleaf waited for Fallenpaw to point her tail towards burdock root.

With a grunt, she pointed to the burdock roots. Fallenpaw placed a paw on them before pushing them to a seprate place. She gave some alfalfa a distiantful sniff before pushing then down her left side.

Pineleaf purred. Her apprentice was learning well. "Now, show me which herb helps stiff join-" Pineleaf stopped from finishing her sentence. She was going to say joints but that was too easy. The marigold was right next to her.

Fallenpaw knew what she was to say. Quietly, she pointed to ragwort, and pushed it to Pineleaf.

Pineleaf looked at the ragwort leaves and nodded her head. "Ragwort," she mewed, "That is good, in fact better than what I'd use, marigold."

Fallenpaw smiled slightly at her mentors praise. The bright color of a death berry caught her sharp eye. Wrinkling her nose, she picked up the deadly berry delicately in her teeth and started towards the camp entrance.

Pineleaf yelped at the sight of her apprentice holding the very deadly berry. Dashing towards her, she stood in front of the mute medicine cat apprentice, "Never hold death berries in your teeth!" she chided, "wrap it in an ivy leaf! But it's ok, you didn't know," Pineleaf mewed with a sigh. Running back to her den, she grabbed a leaf from the empty mallow store. Rushing back to her apprentice, he put the ivy leaves bellow the death berries. "Also, can you go get some mallow leaves? We don't have any," she added while returning back to her den.

Fallenpaw was taken aback at the ergency in her voice. Narrowing her eyes, she watched her dissapear and return with an Ivyleaf. Setting the deadly berry on the leaf, she picked it up. With a nod to her question, she swiftly made it out of camp.

Pineleaf went into her den with a sigh of relief. Fallenpaw was an apprentice that learnt well. She was smart and trustworthy. Pineleaf was actually surprised when Fallenpaw saw the death berries before her. Pineleaf thought it was a good idea to name Fallenpaw Fallenheart when she became a full medicine cat. "Or is it too early to think about that?" she murmured darkly.
(I said it darkly in case you change or die)

OK lol) Fallenpaw dug a shallow hole and plumped the deadly berries in it. Scraping earth over it, she continued. Mallow, mallow... The sweet scent of mallow struck the air. She was close. Fallenpaw spotted it, along with a plump mouse. Settling into a, how she thought, hunters crouch. Drawing herself closer, she extended a paw and bashed it to the ground. Squeaking with terror, it went limp in Fallenpaw's sturdy grip. Plucking as much Mallow as she could carry, she continued back to camp.
When she made it back, she had a few goldenrod in her mouth. Setting it down before the herb store, she grabbed the mouse and slipped away to find Pineleaf.
